Tesamorelin

Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH/GHRF). It works by stimulating GHRH receptors in the pituitary gland, increasing the body's pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone (GH) and subsequently increasing IGF-1 levels.

Unlike peptides that directly supply growth hormone, tesamorelin stimulates the body's own GH-production pathway. Its effects have been studied primarily in relation to visceral adipose tissue (VAT), body composition, lipid metabolism, and GH/IGF-1 signaling. Clinical trials in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy demonstrated significant reductions in visceral abdominal fat.
